ASP.Net popularity
How popular is ASP.Net now in the web development market? Are there any huge sites (ie eBay and Amazon.com type sites) that run successfully on ASP.Net. What is the typical profile of an ASP.Net site? Is it used more in Intranet implementations? I guess the question is: how pervasive is ASP.Net in the Internet Site market for heavily hit, mission critical sites? How far has ASP.Net come (in terms of competition with Java and other technologies) and has ASP.Net "arrived"?

Re: ASP.Net popularity

Chad,

Take a look at myspace! Talk about a HUGE site!!!! They USED to be PHP based, but eventually converted to ASP.NET. The improvements reaped from the transition are well documented.

Re: ASP.Net popularity
Have they gone live with the asp.net version? I don't really use Myspace, but some of the pages I've seen appear to be cold fusion (I think cfm files are cold fusion???)

Re: ASP.Net popularity

Yes, it's been live for as long as I can remember, really. They remapped the cfm extensions to ASP.NET to prevent from breaking peoples' links. It's entirely done in asp.net now.
